As part of the BFI Art of Action season, Blackpool Film Festival is excited to present a fun-filled night of thrills and spills.

Celebrate the women of action cinema with a screening of action-packed satirical comedy, Polite Society.

Follow martial artist-in-training, Ria Khan (Priya Kansara) in this joyous mashup of familial affection and roundhouse kicks as she battles to save her sister from her looming marriage. After enlisting the help of her eclectic group of friends, Ria hatches an ambitious plan to rescue her sister and uncover the secrets of her family-to-be. Get ready for an exhilarating journey filled with daring heists, crafty disguises and epic fight sequences, as we see Ria put her stunt training to the test.

The screening is followed by an exclusive panel discussion hosted by women’s organisation, Reclaim Blackpool. Join us for some insightful commentary and industry knowledge from special guests, including Polite Society stunt performer Francesca Cozier, and other professionals from the world of action.

Opening the 2024 Blackpool Film Festival in style, join us for this dazzling new 4K restoration of Charles Vidor’s film noir classic, Gilda.
