A group of passionate young women band together to make change in their local community and hometown of Blackpool. With personal archives collected over one summer, to workshops and many conversations, Pier to Peer is a short film about youth, activism and the friendships created along the way – and all rooted in a complicated love letter to the places we call home. 

Supported and resourced by the #iwill team, this film has been co-created with young people from Blackpool’s United Youth Alliance, many of whom are now #iwill Ambassadors sharing their experiences and insights of local youth social action on a national scale.

About the #iwill Movement

A UK-wide youth movement, equipping and platforming over 400 young people across the country to shape and lead positive change in their communities through youth social action. The movement works to amplify their voices and help build skills in leadership, advocacy, activism, and participation, sparking lifelong connections and driving a more equitable society for all. Young people can join the movement at any time.

About the United Youth Alliance

The UYA is a unique organisation in Blackpool and the Fylde, dedicated to supporting the civil sector’s development to increase its capacity and impact. In addition to supporting the young women’s group involved in the making of this film, UYA offers community-led, time-limited interventions that include social action, research, training, and events, all of which help strengthen and develop local communities. UYA is the strategic partner of the #iwill Movement in Blackpool, a signatory of the Power of Youth Charter, and has played a key role in making this film by connecting young people, local organisations, and supporters.
